Here in Spain we have the same problems you have described, more or less since 7th February (our server is smtp.correo.yahoo.es). I don't know what the trouble is but a friend tries to contact with Y! technical services and they insisted in made my friend waste his time changing silly things of his e-mail program in spite of to recognize that they have a problem. I think it is really disgusting!! It is a completely lack of responsibility!! I'm going to move to another e-mail account!

I've been having problems for a couple of months receiving email from one particular client. Their emails sometimes take 5 to 7 days before they are delivered to my mailbox. Never had this problem with the same person before.

same problem here. not sending for hours through outlook. i pay for this and gmail is free. I see no reason not to switch to GMAIL except, like someone said, i hate changing addresses. but this sucks! no real explanations at all. and this has been going on for a week! crazy. Has anyone used Gmail's POP stuff?

I am amazed that Y! hasn't done anything about this. I too have the problem and have been using the premium service since 2001! That's 6 years. I guess they are cutting outgoing expenses so big bill can buy the company at a higher price. Sincerely cheesed off on this one. I would make sure someone gets fired in my company if this happenned!

Come on Y! Do it right and fix it now!

Wow, talk about a lack of professionalism. With the lack of communication, only followed by the inability to request any support or make comments. It appalls me that their comments section on that blog is closed. I can sympathize with Minh. I'm trying to coordinate some travel for next week and am in the process of buying a home as well, and now I can't rely on Yahoo emails to get sent out in any time-critical fashion. If I can't expect the degree of professionalism that one should expect from a paid email service, then why should I pay for it?

I see the Yahoo mail blog has a note that the comment forum is closed. Gee, I wonder why? Should we all inundate their help desk with emails until they get this issue out into the open? Anyone know if it's a hassle to move to another hosting service?

I've had this problem since February 15th, and my delays has been sporadic anywhere from 15 minutes to 12 hours (but mostly they are in the 5-6 hours range). I can understand if there is some exceptional outage or temporary hiccup, but what's frustrating is the lack of Yahoo! official communication on this, either in a public statement or at least in email to all paying Mail Plus customers, especially since this is a known problem for several weeks now. It took me several days just to realize that some important emails actually have been delayed (and in today's business world, you can imagine how costly this can be).

The only semi-official communication by Yahoo! has been this blog entry:
http://ymailupdates.com/blog/2008/02/19/email-delays-through-smtp-servers
and a recorded voicemail on their hotline.

A plethora of other Yahoo! users have confirmed this issue here too:

Same problems here, slow delivery or just receiving errors when trying to connect to Yahoo's SMTP server.

I'm also a long-time paying customer of Yahoo's mail service and it's beyond annoying that they refuse the put up a status page for service outages.

I have been having the same problems since Feb 18th. Not the first time, either. Yahoo has sent me things to try but none worked. They tried to blame it on my Entourage for Mac but that isn't it. Mail is sent, shows up 3-10 hours later.

I sure am glad to see that someone at Yahoo! admits there is a problem with the email. I first reported this at least 2 weeks ago and so far I haven't gotten an answer from the support team as to why. I have been sending myself one or two a test emails almost every day most of the time if I receive them it several hours later if at all. And for a day or so people were reporting that email they sent to me was bouncing.

I've been having the exact same problem for a lot longer than 2/15! The worst part is no timeframe is given by Yahoo support...just something about their engineers working on it.
